Question & things to think about from chapter 1

1)   In the gospels, Jesus tells the disciples to go to Galilee and He will meet them there. How can we reconcile that with what Luke says in verses 4-5?

 2)   In verses 6-11 we find the disciples asking about the future. They have just been through an emotional rollercoaster and the future is looking very uncertain (sound familiar?). It is, perhaps, natural that they would want to know what is coming. How does Jesus answer them and what can we take from that for our current circumstances?

3)   In verses 12-14, what is their reaction to having to wait? How did they spend their time? Again, what can we apply to ourselves?

4)   In verses 15-26 we see the disciples choosing someone to replace Judas Iscariot, and doing so “by lots”. What do you think of this? Were they correct to do so? We basically see nothing more of Matthias so the question is, was he really who God had in mind or should they have waited and, perhaps, made Paul the twelfth? Or, to look at it another way, did it really matter? Were they trying to keep things as they were when they could have been more relaxed about it and just left the eleven? Are we, perhaps, guilty of trying to preserve things we should be willing to let go of, or of rushing to get something done when we should be prepared to wait?
