Question & things to think about from chapter 10

1)   Where are Caesarea and Joppa (note that Joppa is now called Jaffa)? How far apart are they?

2)   Peter has a vision of a sheet full of animals. What is the meaning of the vision? Is it about the Old Testament food laws or something else? Does it tell us anything about Peter that the vision is repeated three times?

3)   Look at the Gospel as Peter preaches it to Cornelius and his household. What are the main points? As in chapter 2, notice that the cross is not the central feature, and that forgiveness comes “in his name” not “by his cross”. What, to Peter, is the central meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection?

4)   The spirit falls on the household while Peter is speaking and they start speaking in tongues. This is the third time this has happened. What is the significance of this, bearing in mind who these people are?
